Hi intrinsic, I run SUPro on both my Macbook and my PC. Unfortunately on my Macbook it doesn't perform as well. (due to the integrated graphics card, I think) Some problems I've encountered.can't use the mouse, as it causes too many mouse trails:).difficult to select objects via drawing a selection box.actually no selection box shows up.overall the program runs slower than on my PC.seems more 'sticky' I am still fairly new to SU, so maybe you might not have these problems, or know how to solve them yourself. Good luck Nunibad 16/2/2008, 16:35 น. Hi - I'm running SUpro on a MacBook.
Had similar problems to what you describe back in the late 10.4's (say last September or so); but now am on 10.5.2 with the subsequent Graphics Update and it seems fine. At the moment I have Hardware Acceleration on but Fast feedback off.
In particular, smooth and responsive (for small models at least - not doing a big one at the moment) and -unlike last year- the selection box does show up (as it used to on my earlier machine, PB17'). GMA X3100 better.than GMA950 (line render seems normal) Hi, Yes, true Caroll, i read your add and i ty, it work better with Mac OS 10.5.2 on my 2ghz Mac Mini with GMA950. I work also with big models.! A few weeks before, i try the new macbook generation with gm x3100. Redering problems seems to have disappear! All lines are drawing notably on 2d views.
Hey, Product Manufacturers! 3D Warehouse is the ultimate distribution platform to promote your SketchUp Models. Google SketchUp Pro 2017 keygen for mac and win is come in 2017. Be aware with the all latest update of this software for giving much and amazing new things. SketchUp, 3D Warehouse, LayOut, my. SketchUp, and Trimble Connect all render models using the same under-the-hood algorithms—all tuned for buttery 3D orbiting.
But the slow box selection still there. I think withe the new 10.5.2 update, everything would be (almost) ok! Another thing, MacBook pro are not notably faster than MacBook with video acceleration, this is strange but we made a test with a detailed model on both, and the apple retailer was disapointed too.!
Christophe SketchUp Guide Jody 19/2/2008, 6:31 น. Hi intrinsic and others, While the latest Leopard update might help some, the MacBook Air (and Macbook) both use the integrated video card which only supports OpenGL 1.2 and won't be optimal solutions for SketchUp.
Neither card is really designed for 3D rendering and performance will suffer. You'll be able to run SketchUp on either system however you may see the artifacts that memamo is seeing, this can be remedied by turning off Fast Feedback on that system. To turn off Fast Feedback: 1. Open SketchUp.
Choose 'SketchUp' 'Preferences' 'OpenGL'. Deselect 'Use Fast Feedback'. Additionally if you continue to see issues then you can turn off Hardware Acceleration in this same place. Ultimately you can use SketchUp on any of these systems though I wouldn't use it for anything other than basic models and in performing basic modeling, as always be sure to model smarter so you can go farther.- Jody intrinsic 20/2/2008, 18:55 น. Hi Everyone, Thanks so much for the advice and sharing your experiences.
I think I am going to compromise; get a MacMini for use at home and an MBAir for taking the models with me while traveling and conducting minor updates to them. Do you think that's a fair decision? Good news: SketchUp may run nicely with MacBook GMA X3100!!! Hi I buy a MacBook with GMA X 3100 on the Apple refurb store to substitute to my PowerBook G4 since a few days. I don't experienced the rendering problem with GMA X 3100 we met on GMA 950: lines disappear on 2D view etc. Rendering work nice and it's fast enough notably on detailed models.
The last problem is the very slow process of selection with rectangle selection tool. And it is solved now WITH A PATCH!!! I just have tested it, and it work well and Fast! Look at this link to solve your problem on MacBook with GMA X 3100 (I will test the patch on my mac mini with GMA 950): The patch is called ThawUp (Thanks to the author). You have to register to get active link.
You must install Mac OSX 10.5.2 with Graphics Update and SU 6.4.120 And now, SketchUp team must work to integrate this solution. I suppose that the new MacBook Air may run SketchUp with this Patch. Bob 6/3/2008, 0:56 น.
Hello Arche, I work on a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro, both with 256MB graphics, NVidea. One has a core 2 duo processor the other twice Duo Core. It all depends on what you want to do with Sketchup, or rendering software, but I've been comparing the way these computers handle more complex calculations.
Now, each change on my laptop took anything between a small minute and maybe ten minutes, depending on complexity. You'd expect the PRO to do this about twice as fast, but in fact it does it maybe 5 times faster, probably even more, I haven't taken note of it exactly. But a very remarkeble speedbump indeed. Keep in mind they say SU doesn't support multiprocessing.
So what's happening here? Does Mac OS solve the problem itself, with these DuoCore processors? All very intriguing. I don't really believe so, though. Somehow the flow of information gets cluttered on a Macbook. This could be anything, it isn't only about Graphic cards and processors.
On a laptop they have to cramp al the stuff into a tiny, or microscopically small box, and that's what you pay for. Twice in fact, as you can not upgrade these laptops. Then there is the bigger investment of a Mac, so they should also last longer to make it worthwile, among other arguments. That's what I think, at least. Bob 6/3/2008, 4:03 น.
